TRACKER VS TRADITIONAL

Archive with flexibility

Bragi supports both Type 2 Tracker Archives and Type 1 Traditional Archives, giving you flexibility in how you manage change tracking.

Type 2 Tracker Archives:

  • Log a full change history of every record using Type 2 Slowly Changing Dimensions.
  • Automatically detect changes and create new versions for each update.
  • Optional intra-day processing for multiple daily runs (beware of table size).

Type 1 Traditional Archives:

  • Maintain one row per record.
  • Add new rows only for unseen business keys.
  • Optional “Update Changed Columns” updates values without creating new versions.

HELPER CLASSES

Bragi generates a full set of helper components in your data warehouse, making analysis straightforward and consistent:

  • getChanges_<ArchiveName>: Retrieve changes between two points in time.

  • getPointInTime_<ArchiveName>: View full archive contents at a specific point.

  • update_<ArchiveName>: Core logic for updating archives (manual or orchestrated).

  • <ArchiveName>Latest View: See the most recent version of each record.
